Erosion Control

1. Flexible articulated concrete mattresses

Erosion occurs when the top layer of soil is swept away by natural or man-made forces, making it extremely difficult to grow any vegetation on the site. Erosion can turn once healthy, vibrant land into arid, lifeless terrain and further cause landslides and mudslides.

Flexible articulated concrete mattresses is a permanent erosion control mat utilized for stabilizing slopes, channels, low water crossing, inlet/outlet protection, and shorelines. It consist of concrete blocks (6.5˝ x 6.5˝ with a 2.25˝ profile) locked together and embedded into a high strength geogrid. There is spacing between the blocks that gives the mat flexibility and allows for optional vegetation growth. The mat is packaged in rolls, making transporting and installing efficient.

Flexible articulated concrete mattresses sizes and designs vary according to different sites and condition.

2. Gabions – Sacks and Cages Technique

Sack gabions are cylindrical baskets engineered from double twisted hexagonal woven steel wire mesh, while Cage Gabions are baskets are made from high quality steel wire, which is heavily galvanized to provide long term corrosion protection.

. The tubular units are filled with gabion stone at the project site and laced tightly shut. This modular unit is then used to provide erosion protection for river banks, scour protection of bridge piers, or any situation that requires immediate defense from the erosion effects of water.
